This will only work for the GS120, GS200, GS400 and GS65, GS75, GS140, GS150, GS180, GS200, GS280, GS300, GS500 the later cams have a joystick.
Service Menu and Error Codes
REMOVE THE TAPE AND SD CARD. PLACE THE CAMCORDER ON AC SUPPLY.
For the CRUCIFORM ROCKER camcorders (GS400, etc.) to enter the Service Menu, place the mode dial in PC mode. Then, press Backlight, << (Rewind), and Photoshot buttons simultaneously and hold for more than 3 seconds.
For the JOYSTICK camcorders (GS250 etc.), to enter the Service Menu, place the mode dial in PC mode. Then, press the QUICK START button and JOYSTICK LEFT button and PHOTOSHOT button simultaneously and hold for more than 3 seconds.
A table will display. Ignore the numbers at the top of the screen and lines numbered 1-6 on cruciform rocker camcorders and 1-7 on joystick camcorders. DO NOT make changes to lines 1-7 or CYL.
The line labelled CYL is the run time on the video heads in hexadecimal. To convert to hours, convert the hex to decimal, multiply that number by 4.3 to get seconds, and divide the result by 3600 to get hours.
The line labeled VTR contains lock codes for the tape mechanism and the line labeled CAM contains the lens motor lock codes embedded in a string of 18 numbers. If the camcorder has never experienced a mechanism or lens motor lock, the row will be filled with zeros (0). If there are non-zero numbers in the row, you may read the lock code before last, the last lock code, and the current lock code as follows (spaces between number groups and emphasis added for clarity):
01 0202 02 0202 03 0202
Ignore the groups of four numbers. The first bolded two digit number (01) from the left is the lock code before last. The second bolded two digit number (02) is the last lock code. The third bolded two digit number (03) is the current lock code.
Read the lock codes as follows:
01.....T-Reel Lock
02.....S-Reel Lock
03.....Unloading Lock
04.....Loading Lock
05.....Cylinder
51.....Zoom Motor Lock
52.....Focus Motor Lock
To exit the Service Menu, unplug the AC power supply. |
