Vinyl Victory! Digital Nasties Partners with Boutique Pressing Plant for ADA Mastered Soundtracks!

Get ready to drop the needle! Following our earlier explorations (see News Item ID 4 if you have linked news items, or reference our previous update), Digital Nasties Studio is ecstatic to announce a landmark partnership with 'Groove Relics Vinyl Works', a fiercely independent UK-based record manufacturing service. This collaboration will bring our most iconic film soundtracks to life as limited-edition vinyl albums!

Artistic shot of a vinyl pressing plant

We understand the passion for physical media and the unique auditory experience that vinyl offers. That's why we've sought out a partner who shares our commitment to quality and the analogue spirit. Groove Relics isn't just a pressing plant; they are artisans of audio.

Mastering for Vinyl: The ADA Process

A key part of this partnership involves working closely with Groove Relics' renowned mastering engineer. For these special vinyl editions, we will be employing an ADA (Analog-Digital-Analog) mastering process. This means:

  • Analog Source/Treatment: For scores originally recorded to analog tape (like some of our older classics), we'll be working from the best possible analog sources. For digitally recorded scores, they will undergo a meticulous mastering stage which may involve select analog processing to imbue warmth and character suitable for the vinyl medium.
  • Digital Precision: The audio will then be captured or refined in a high-resolution digital domain. This allows for any necessary, precise restoration work, careful equalization tailored specifically for vinyl's unique characteristics, dynamic range optimization, level balancing, and accurate track sequencing. This digital step ensures clarity and control.
  • Analog Cut: Finally, the fully mastered audio will be converted back to a pure analog signal via high-quality digital-to-analog converters. This pristine analog signal then feeds directly into the lacquer cutting lathe, carving the grooves that will become your record.

This hybrid ADA approach ensures we leverage the best of both worlds: the desirable sonic qualities often associated with analog processing, combined with the surgical precision of digital mastering tools, ultimately delivering a rich, dynamic, and engaging sound optimized for your turntable. You'll find our unique 'ADA Mastered for Vinyl' logo proudly displayed on the back of these upcoming album covers as a hallmark of this dedicated process.

In-House Lacquers & Stampers: Quality Control

What truly sets Groove Relics Vinyl Works apart is their dedication to controlling the entire quality chain from mastering to the final product. A critical step, often outsourced, is the cutting of master lacquers and the subsequent creation of the stampers (the 'moulds' for the records). Groove Relics will be handling all of this in-house.

This hands-on approach from lacquer cutting through to the final pressing is rare and allows for an unparalleled level of quality control, meticulous attention to detail, and swift problem-solving if any issues arise. It ensures each record pressed is a true audiophile-grade collector's item, reflecting the care put into both the film and its sound.

Forthcoming Soundtrack Releases

We are currently finalising the first wave of titles from the Digital Nasties catalogue that will receive this deluxe vinyl treatment. Expect a mix of sought-after scores from our restored classics and the soundtracks from our newer original productions. As previously hinted, titles like the synth-driven soundscape of "Sewer Dwellers," the chilling ambient score of "Digital Terror," and the haunting melodies of "Seven Doors of Death" are strong contenders for initial release.
